The music series has been going on for about 10 years now, and continues to go from strength to strength. We started out with an audience of just 10 or 12 people but now it’s grown to be a fun-filled evening with a packed patio of eager music lovers and some fine dancers. Many people now come early to grab the patio chairs provided, while others, joining us in their own time, bring their own lawn chairs.
It’s an amazing setting for an outdoor concert – with the best sunsets in town. I have so many great memories of these marina shows. Not only do I get to present my own music, but I also enjoy coming down to see many of the other entertainers and musical friends putting on their own performance. Ronan has always asked us to provide as many different styles of music as possible, so each summer there is always something for everyone to enjoy.
My own show this year was great fun. We even had a suprise visit by the O.P.P. with their new boat and crew, as we played to a full house. Later in the show, some fireworks went off across the bay, making it a spectacular end to a wonderful night. Watching the ducks paddling up and down the boat channels, as the sun was setting, was a beautiful sight to see.
We musicians have lots of fun – we get to play for two hours, sharing out favourite songs in front of an appreciative and warm audience. This year I was joined on stage by my partner, and best friend, Judy Butler with, another good friend, John Moran on bass guitar and our drummer Stu Campbell, on the Cajon (box drum). This show was especially exciting as we were able to introduce some of our own original songs from my new CD “A Songwriters Journey” alongside many of our favorite cover tunes.
Thanks for another fun evening of sharing our love of music. See you on the patio next summer!
